| The idea
of "Personal Inscription" is new to
many of us. It is normal to be inquisitive
and even suspicious of that which we know little
about. This page gives you the opportunity to
look through what others have wanted to know
about the inscription process (and many other
interesting topics).

Will my inscription wear
off over time? An inscription is a somewhat
permanent part of your diamond. I use the term
"somewhat" because an inscription can
only be removed by mechanical means. It is permanent
as long as you wish for it to be.
Will my inscription affect
the clarity of my diamond? No, adding an
inscription to a diamond does not in any way affect
the clarity of a diamond. The best way to describe
the appearance of an inscription would be "laser
etching." The inscription is completely external
and is placed on the girdle of the diamond. The
girdle provides the perfect location for the inscription
because it is the one surface on every diamond
that is not reflected within the stone.
My diamond is already in
a setting, can it still be inscribed? YES,
a mounted stone can still be inscribed. There
is no reason to remove a stone from the mounting
as long as we can get to a section of the girdle
that is large enough to receive the inscription.
The only setting that would not physically allow
an inscription to be placed on the girdle is what
is commonly known as a bezel setting. As long
as your stone is in some form of a prong setting
the girdle can be inscribed.
HELP!!! I can't see my inscription.
When a diamond is initially inscribed
the inscription appears dark, as if it was written
with black ink. This is actually the carbon residue
resulting from the inscription process. Once a
stone goes through an intense cleaning (usually
during the setting process) it is possible that
the residue might be removed. Therefore, resulting
in what we refer to as a transparent or translucent
inscription. This does not mean that the inscription
is gone, it is merely a bit more difficult to
see.
